ICNM Awards

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the British Register for Complementary Practitioners (BRCP), the Institute for Complementary and Natural Medicine (ICNM) is launching its first ever ICNM Awards 2009 which will recognise complementary medicine practitioners for their achievements and for raising the profile of complementary medicine.

Chair of the ICNM Trustees Beverly Martin says: "The ICNM Awards provides a great opportunity for complementary medicine practitioners to showcase their achievements. The Awards are also part of the continuing efforts of the ICNM to raise the standards and profile of complementary medicine generally."

The Awards will comprise four categories: Best Complementary Medicine Student, Best Complementary Practitioner, Outstanding Contribution to Complementary Medicine, and Best Complementary Medicine Company.

The Best Complementary Medicine Student will be nominated by a tutor or teacher and will be based on a range of criteria including class performance, coursework, supervised practice and case studies.

The Best Complementary Practitioner will include nominations from colleagues and patients or be self-nominated. Nominators will be asked to provide evidence and a case study to support the nomination. Initially, six winners will be chosen for this category, one from each region: Ireland, Scotland, Wales, London and the southeast, the southwest, and northern England. An overall national winner will be then be picked who will recieve the Award and two years practitioners insurance donated by Balens Ltd.

Outstanding Contribution to Complementary Medicine will include nominations from anywhere within the medical or complementary medicine sector or the general public. The nominees will be individuals or groups who stand out from the crowd because of the work or contribution they have made to complementary medicine.

Best Complementary Medicine Company will be nominated from practitioners and the general public who need to provide information on the quality of service provided by the company to either practitioners or the general public, or both.

The closing date for the entries is November 30th and the winners will be announced in December.
